Plans to build a pedestrian bridge connecting the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia to the MARTA station and downtown access points created concerns since the both ends of the bridge utilize a mechanically stabilized earth wall as a 15-foot wide curved ramp up to the bridge deck. The construction plans included four columns for the bridge that were located in close proximity to an existing subway tunnel. GeoSonics/Vibra-Tech was retained to perform pre-construction surveys of nearby MARTA tunnels. During construction activity, vibration monitoring data was collected. Following the construction project, MARTA tunnels were inspected to ensure no damage had occurred.
