Mercedes-Benz Stadium Northside Drive Pedestrian Bridge Project

Let GeoSonics/Vibra-Tech find a solution to your construction needs allowing you to bridge the gap and connect you to the community surrounding your project.

Plans to build a pedestrian bridge connecting the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia to the MARTA station and downtown access points created concerns since the both ends of the bridge utilize a mechanically stabilized earth wall as a 15-foot wide curved ramp up to the bridge deck. The construction plans included four columns for the bridge that were located in close proximity to an existing subway tunnel. GeoSonics/Vibra-Tech was retained to perform pre-construction surveys of nearby MARTA tunnels. During construction activity, vibration monitoring data was collected. Following the construction project, MARTA tunnels were inspected to ensure no damage had occurred. The pedestrian bridge opened in time for Super Bowl LIII, allowing a safe passage over Northside Drive, connecting pedestrians to Mercedes-Benz Stadium, a MARTA station, parking and the surrounding neighborhoods in
downtown Atlanta.
