For example, EPA and state regulations require information related to monitoring groundwater conditions, such as pH within test wells, streams and lakes. For those areas, our Re:mote Monitoring units provide continual measurement of critical levels and report on pre-determined intervals.
Data generated during the monitoring is available via web pages customized for your company. Access to the site is coded for management, superintendent and employee access. You can review your environmental data anywhere you have Internet access. In addition, the data format is flexible enough to allow comments to be entered, so heavy rainfall, spills and other potential affects can be noted at the time of occurrence and documented for further evaluation. Levels measured are graphically represented and available for download in spreadsheet formats, which can then be imported into hydrologic data management programs for analysis and reporting to determine compliance.

GeoSonics/Vibra-Tech collects water samples to conduct chemical water analyses, usually in conjunction with inspection services. A typical water analysis consists of seven or eight standard parameters, but any analysis can be customized to a specific client need or request.
Sampling is performed to establish a baseline on private wells or springwater supplies encountered during pre-project inspections, enabling third-party documentation of water supplies. We also perform water analyses in conjunction with post-project inspections damage claim investigations. Upon request, GeoSonics/Vibra-Tech can also assist in providing bacteriological analysis.
We also possess the ability to conduct more comprehensive field studies on individual well and springwater supplies. Static water level measurements, drawdown testing and spring flow rates can be measured. Using our Re:mote Monitoring system, we also offer long-term monitoring with continuous data collection and remote communication for specific parameters.

Water quality and quantity within well systems are part of any water management program for mining and quarrying operations. Whether on-site or neighboring wells, the level of water change associated with dewatering for site development or standard quarry operations requires evaluation. Pre-project inspection of well systems provides a reference point prior to the start of excavation or blasting and can eliminate issues at future dates.
Drawdown testing is recommended as part of inspections for wells. Long-term evaluation of wells and their ability to recover following pumping is a strong indicator of well condition. GeoSonics/Vibra-Tech’s experience in testing includes U.S. Bureau of Mines research studies (Minerals Research Contract Report, Survey of Blasting Effects on Ground Water Supplies in Appalachia, Parts I and II) which have demonstrated the value of water well drawdown testing. When plotted, well levels can be reviewed by mine personnel or hydrologists as part of future planning.
Drawdown testing also relies upon the measurement of static water levels in adjacent wells. GeoSonics/Vibra-Tech’s Re:mote Monitoring instruments provide the levels of adjacent wells during testing and for pre- and post-testing. The effect upon adjacent water wells can be accurately assessed and monitored during all mining or construction activities.

Multiple wells, off-site and on-site, can be reviewed from a website custom-designed for each firm. Managers can review all sites while restricting employee-level access to an individual mine or site. Instrumentation can be alarmed so that a text message alert is automatically sent when threshold levels are reached.
Wells are only part of our water monitoring configurations. Our units can also measure tide changes in marinas and are easily adaptable to lake monitoring or overflow ponds.
